USA-Switzerland

Redley Exantus, a New York born and Geneva based designer, started her fashion studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. She then worked on 7th Avenue for two years at Calvin Klein Inc. on the Calvin Klein Collection. Redley’s need to live abroad led her to Switzerland where she continued her studies and won first prize at the Podium Femina de la Mode, an important fashion prize in Switzerland.  Redley graduated from the Geneva University of Art and Design with a BA in Fashion and Accessories Design.

In 2006, Redley began working on her first womenswear collection with the help of two bursaries, one from the State fund for Contemporary Art and the other from the City of Geneva’s Cultural Affaires Bureau. Today, she is one of the leading independent designers in Switzerland and plans to take her label abroad.

The Exantus collection is a fusion of the “American Ready-to-Wear” approach, which is modern yet functional, and the “Old World” European craft, a more hands on couture approach. Her designs define urban sophistication mixing technically functioning design with a sensual aesthetic.

Redley Exantus says: “Being part of EcoChic has introduced sustainable fashion to me. I plan on using the organic fabric that I have used to make my garment in my future collections and working with the producers of that fabric. I have long wanted to provide sustainable fashion and I am excited at the idea of participating in an event that raises awareness of the environmental and social issues of our modern times. For me, it is not a trend but a lifestyle that I feel works for my label and my clients.”
